Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is accepting applications for an Acute Care or Trauma Surgeon to join the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Specialists group. The successful applicant will join a growing and dynamic practice that covers surgical critical care, trauma surgery and emergency general surgery.
About the position
- The ideal candidate will join a program that is designated as a Level 1 trauma center by both the American College of Surgeons and the state of Missouri
- We also offer a strong acute care surgery service, including opportunities to perform procedures using the DaVinci robotic surgical system
- Our team provides 24-hour Acute General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Surgery coverage with our group managing as surgical intensivists, the transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, and neurological surgery patients and other high acuity sub-specialty patients in our surgical ICU
- Saint Luke’s Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Medical School, offering an academic practice with clinical faculty appointments in the UMKC Department of Surgery
- Active teaching role with direct supervision of surgical residents in trauma surgery, acute care surgery, and the surgical ICU
- The trauma surgical team is supported by 5 Advanced Practice Providers who provide comprehensive inpatient bedside care, including coverage in the surgical ICU, as well as care in the outpatient setting
- Opportunities may be available for a limited elective general surgery practice
- Research is a core aspect of our mission, with contributions from all our surgeons; this effort is supported by the nation’s fourth-largest bioanalytical unit, along with additional resources provided by Saint Luke’s Foundation.
